EU willing to be 'creative' to get Brexit trade deal

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Wednesday that it was still uncertain if a deal on the future relationship between the EU and the UK could be struck before the end of the year.

Speaking at the European Parliament von der Leyen insisted that important issues remain to be solved before reaching an agreement including questions of a "level playing field, the governance, and fisheries."

Von der Leyen also insisted that mechanisms to resolve differences should be clear, to avoid reliving the withdrawal agreement implementation controversy.
