French President Emmanuel Macron was among the first to take a seat at a cafe terrace on Wednesday as outdoor spaces in cafes and restaurants reopened on Wednesday after a shutdown of more than six months.
Macron was seen chatting with Prime Minister Jean Castex, who planned to attend a showing of a movie later in the day.
"Let's get used to try and live together the present time," Macron told journalists outside the cafe.
"If we manage to get well organized collectively, to continue vaccinating, to have a collective discipline as citizens, there's no reason we can't continue moving forward," he added.

The French government is lifting restrictions incrementally to stave off a resurgence of COVID-19 and to give citizens back some of their signature "joie de vivre."
As part of the first stage of the plan, France's 7 p.m. nightly curfew will now start at 9 p.m.
Museums, theaters and cinemas were also reopening Wednesday.
