Macron, Kishida meet on sidelines of G-7, vow increased support for Ukraine

On the sidelines of the summit of the Group of Seven leading economies on Sunday, French President Emmanuel Macron met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida for bilateral talks.

On the sidelines of the summit of the Group of Seven leading economies on Sunday, French President Emmanuel Macron met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida for bilateral talks.

According to officials, Macron praised Japan for the support the country had given to Ukraine following Russia's invasion.

He also stressed the importance of the example being set by Tokyo to show that the war was not a regional or European issue but a challenge for the international community.

The two leaders said they were committed to continuing their support for Kyiv and maintaining a high level of pressure on Russia, officials added.
