Hundreds of people gathered in Bucharest's University Square on Saturday to demonstrate against the measures imposed by the Romanian government to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The protest had heavily religious and nationalist components with protesters singing religious songs between speeches given by several members of the Romanian Orthodox community.

People chanted slogans against wearing face masks saying that the face coverings restrict their freedom. No measures were taken to disperse the crowd. On Saturday, the total number of confirmed infections in Romania - the country of some 19 million people - stood at over 152,000 including 5,358 deaths.
