Extinction Rebellion activists staged a sit-in in front of the offices of the La Repubblica newspaper in Milan on Wednesday.

In total, nine groups of environmental protesters organized sit-ins in front of major national media outlets at the same time in the city, aiming to bring attention to the way climate change is covered.

Four hundred climate activists from 180 countries were invited to Italy's financial capital for a three-day summit that will send its recommendations to the climate change meeting in Paris next month in Glasgow, Scotland.

It will be followed by a two-day pre-COP26 meeting aimed at finding common ground on sticking points among the participants, which include big emitting countries and countries that still lack electricity for all inhabitants.

Youth4climate runs until 30 September 2021, followed by the Pre-COP26 which will run until 2 October 2021 in Milan.
