Ninety six year-old Jos Hermans became Belgium's first recipient of the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine Monday.
He took the shot to applause at the Sint-Pieter residential care centre in Puurs in the Antwerp region.
In three weeks Hermans will receive a second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
According to John Hopkins university Belgium has had 638,877 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 19,200 deaths.

More than half died in nursing homes and the government decided that the elderly and front-line medical workers would receive the vaccine first.
