The German environment minister Svenja Schulze said in Berlin on Thursday that the postponement of the United Nations global climate summit due to the coronavirus crisis "is completely understandable", but pressed for the global protection of nature.
The U.K. government said on Wednesday that the meeting, due to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, in November, will now be held next year at a date still to be determined.

Schulze stressed that the meeting is not cancelled, and that the current pandemic is a "wake-up call" call to act more decisively against destruction of nature.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.

For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
