Germany's ambassador to the United Nations said on Thursday efforts for his country to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council are being thwarted by other countries who don't want change.
Germany is currently one of 10 non-permanent members and held the Presidency of the Security Council for July.
Christoph Heusgen said reform that would allow Germany to have a permanent seat has been slow coming.
"Those countries who are very happy with the status quo are blocking the process," Heusgen said.
