Honduran: A plane crashed off the coast of Roatan Island in Honduras resulting in the tragic death of popular musician Aurelio Martinez Suazo and 11 others. The incident occurred on Monday at 6.18 pm local time when the plane, a Jetstream aircraft operated by Honduran carrier Lanhsa, crashed into the sea just minutes after taking off from Roatan Island.

The plane was headed to La Ceiba airport on the Honduran mainland with 15 passengers and three crew members, on board. Unfortunately, the crash claimed the lives of at least 12 people, with 5 others rescued from the wreckage. Among the deceased was Aurelio Martinez Suazo, a well-known Garifuna musician.

Rescue efforts were complicated by adverse conditions, including 30 metres of rocks and zero visibility for divers. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but officials have cited an "apparent mechanical failure" on the British-made Jetstream 41 as a possible reason.
