Chilean activists and members of the environmental group FIMA placed an ice sculpture with the word Chile at the Forestal Park in Santiago on Thursday to symbolise the growing climate change crises in the country.

The name of the country formed by ice blocks was made by Daniel Reyes, an artist who calls for the protection of the environment in the new constitution that is currently being drafted.

Ezio Costa, head of NGO FIMA (Fiscalia del Medio Ambiente), said: "The melting of Chile, has to do with how we are losing our glaciers mainly due to the effects of the climate crisis and how we are not taking care of the causes and consequences of the climate crisis."

The ice is expected to last two days.
