Iran: Nuclear deal only after sanctions relief

Iranian leaders said Wednesday that only actual sanction relief, not promises, will make them return to the 2015 nuclear deal. The deal has been on the verge of collapse ever since former U.S president Donald Trump withdrew from it unilaterally in 2018.

Since then, Iran has been increasing its production of nuclear materials beyond the level specified in the agreement.

In December, Iran's parliament approved a bill that would suspend part of U.N. inspections of its nuclear facilities if European signatories to the 2015 nuclear deal do not provide relief from oil and banking sanctions.
