Israel’s Supreme Court has temporarily blocked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ’s decision to remove the head of Shin Bet, the country’s domestic intelligence agency, ordering a review of appeals challenging the dismissal.

In a ruling issued on Friday, the court stated, "It is hereby ordered that a provisional measure be taken to stay the effect of the decision subject to the appeals until another decision is made."

The court's decision means the intelligence chief will remain in place at least until April 8, when the appeals are scheduled to be presented.

Legal Challenge to Netanyahu’s Move

The freeze comes amid mounting legal and political scrutiny over Netanyahu’s decision. The move to dismiss the intelligence agency chief has sparked concerns within Israel’s security establishment and raised questions about the motivation behind the decision.

While the court has not made a final ruling, the temporary suspension ensures that the intelligence chief continues in his role until the matter is fully examined.

What Happens Next?

With the appeals set to be reviewed before April 8, the Supreme Court will determine whether Netanyahu’s decision to dismiss the intelligence chief was legally justified. The ruling could have significant implications for the balance of power within Israel’s security agencies.

For now, the intelligence chief remains in position, as Israel’s highest court weighs the future of the case.
