Finance minister Taro Aso held a joint meeting with Bank of Japan governor Haruhiko Kuroda on Tuesday after G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting and said group will not begin using central bank digital currency (CBDC) service until they can fully respond to any possible risks.

"At Osaka G20 that Japan hosted last year, we put digital payment as a priority agenda. The global stable coin - we should not start the service for that until we fully respond to any possible risks," said Aso. Kuroda said some rules they listed have to be abided by not only G7, but also other countries if they want to issue CBDC in order to "secure transparency and rule of law and healthy economic governance." "Otherwise, it could affect global financial system and cause some issues. We warned of such points today," said Kuroda.
