Jordanian authorities have imposed multiple temporary round-the-clock curfews to stunt the spread of coronavirus, while outside of that only providing limited times for people to shop for basic goods on foot.

A government spokesman said on Monday authorities had recorded 1,036 violations during the most recent 24-hour comprehensive curfew put in place on Friday.

As of Monday Jordan had reported 345 cases of the new coronavirus.

Health Minister Saad Jaber also announced one further death from the virus on Monday, bringing the national death toll to six.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.

For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.

The vast majority of people recover.
