London: King Charles was hospitalised to the hospital for a brief period on Thursday for observation following "temporary side effects" of his cancer treatment, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace. As a result, his scheduled engagements for Thursday afternoon and Friday have been cancelled.
The 76-year-old British Monarch was diagnosed with cancer in February, 2024 and had been undergoing treatment for a better part of the last year.

Following King Charles hospitalisation, the Buckingham Palace issued a statement, giving an update on the monarch's help. The statement read, “His majesty has now returned to Clarence House and as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow’s diary program will also be rescheduled. His majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”
The king's health has been under careful monitoring since early last year, when he revealed that he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer. At 76, the British monarch took a break from public appearances for roughly three months but remained engaged in official responsibilities, including reviewing government documents and meeting with the prime minister. While the role of a constitutional monarch is mostly ceremonial, the demands of royal life can be quite draining. In addition to rare occasions involving full royal attire, the king participates in meetings with political figures, dedication ceremonies, and events recognizing the achievements of British citizens.
2024 was a difficult year for the British Royal Family because apart from King Charles, his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton was also battling cancer. Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and wife of Prince William, took a break of over six months before resuming her public responsibilities in late September.
