Amid the ongoing Microsoft outage, a man named Vincent Flibustier allegedly claimed that he fired the "update" that reportedly caused Microsoft Windows to crash globally.
 

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has said that the company is working with CrowdStrike to bring back its systems online after a global outage.

Microsoft in its statement said, “Residual impact is still affecting some devices”.

Microsoft clarifies that issue causing global cyber outage has been resolved. 

“We've completed our mitigation actions and our telemetry indicates all previously impacted Microsoft 365 apps and services have recovered. We're entering a period of monitoring to ensure impact is fully resolved. For more information, see MO821132 within the admin center,” said Microsoft. 

Over 200 IndiGo flights cancelled as Microsoft outage impacts airlines ops

 The UK’s airports and trains experienced delays, with the London Stock Exchange and the National Health Service among the other organisations in the country dealing with the fallout of a global IT outage on Friday that has grounded planes and caused chaos around the world.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced on Friday that the Indian financial sector has largely remained unaffected by the global outage in Microsoft services. According to the RBI, only 10 banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) experienced minor disruptions.

Maruti Suzuki said it immediately initiated precautionary and remedial measures "and production/despatch operations were briefly halted".

Several airports across the country faced a major technical glitch on Friday, impacting check-in systems for airlines such as IndiGo, Akasa Air, SpiceJet, Air India, Vistara, and others, following a global Microsoft outage. The disruption caused widespread flight delays and cancellations both across the country and globally. IndiGo Airlines alone cancelled about 200 flights.

The Civil Aviation Ministry issued guidelines for the people affected due to the MIcrosoft outage at the ariports.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said in a statement, "I have directed airport authorities and airlines to be compassionate and provide extra seating, water, and food for passengers affected by delays."

"The Civil Ministry and AAl are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with Microsoft for a swift resolution," he added.

A total of 21 flights have been cancelled from the Chennai International Airport due to the Microsoft global outage.

Microsoft says underlying cause of global outage fixed

The low-cost airline said the flights were cancelled due to a “cascading effect of the worldwide travel system outage”, which IndiGo said was beyond its control.

Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said an issue that has caused major disruptions is not a security incident or cyberattack.

"We are talking about a global outage...the Microsoft cloud computing system has failed. I can assure you that it does not affect the flying airlines or which are operating." says BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy on global outage.

All train services in Washington DC have been suspended amid the global outage.

On Microsoft global outage, MoS Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol says, “The whole world is witnessing this global outage as the cloud services of Microsft are down. In our country, the ground operations of airports have been affected...”

A passenger at Chennai airport, Dev Mohanty says, “I had a flight to Goa and it has been cancelled. But, IndiGo did not inform us by text or e-mail. We have not received any form of intimation that the flight has been cancelled.”

President & CEO CrowdStrike George Kurtz tweets, "CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. This is not a security incident or cyberattack. The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed..."

On the global outage, the US Federal Aviation Administration said, “The FAA is closely monitoring a technical issue impacting IT systems at US airlines. Several airlines have requested FAA assistance with ground stops until the issue is resolved."

Narrating his experience of the Global Outage, Arjun Rampal has said, “Their servers are down, I don't know what has happened. I also have a ticket of another airline. I am going there..”
