Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia has recently announced the discovery of a ‘significant gold resource potential’ in the Kingdom. The colossal gold reserve within its borders stretched across a 100-kilometer expanse at south of the current Mansourah Massarah gold mine in the Al Khurmah governorate, located within the Makkah region. The Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) disclosed the discovery of multiple gold deposits on its social media handle, hinting at the potential for a significant expansion of gold mining activities in this region. This groundbreaking discovery represents the initial success of Maaden's comprehensive exploration program initiated in 2022, aimed at establishing a comprehensive metal production line.

Encouraging drilling outcomes from the Uruq South area, spanning 100 kilometers south of the Mansourah Massarah site, displayed geological resemblances to the existing deposit. Samples extracted from various sites showcased high-grade gold deposits, measuring 10.4 grams per ton (g/t) and 20.6 g/t in two randomly drilled locations in proximity to Mansourah Massarah. Responding to these promising findings, Maaden shared about to escalate drilling endeavors around the Mansourah Massarah area throughout 2024.

Maaden's exploration ventures extend to the Jabal al-Ghadara and Bir al-Tawila prospects, situated 25 kilometers north of Mansourah Massarah. Positive drilling results in these regions suggest a potential 125-kilometer strike, offering a substantial opportunity to establish a major world-class gold belt within Saudi Arabia. Initial drilling outcomes near the Mansourah Massarah site indicate that the resource remains open at depth and along the strike, presenting significant prospects for resource expansion at the mine. By the end of 2023, the Mansourah Massarah site had reported gold resources nearing seven million ounces with an annual production capacity of 250,000 ounces.

Robert Wil, CEO of Maaden, highlighted the transformative potential of these discoveries and called them the focal point of the world's next gold rush and a crucial element of their growth strategy. He underscored the significance of these findings in unlocking Saudi Arabia's untapped mineral resources, aligning with Vision 2030 and cementing mining as a pivotal pillar of the Saudi economy.
