Iran's Foreign Minister Monday cautiously welcomed remarks made by the U.S. top Navy official over a "deterrence" status with Iran in the Persian Gulf.

"We are happy that the other party has received the message and has made its behavior more respectful," said Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iran's foreign ministry spokesman.

The top U.S. Navy official in the Mideast said Sunday that America has reached an “uneasy deterrence” with Iran after months of regional attacks and seizures at sea, even as tensions remain high between Washington and Tehran over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.

On the crisis between the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, Khatibzadeh urged to arrive at a political resolution and said that Qatar has been subject of "bullying."
