Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Tuesday said Armenia's withdrawal from the Nagorno-Karabakh region was the "only" solution to the decades-old conflict with Azerbaijan which has reignited in recent days.

Speaking after visiting Azerbaijan's Embassy in Ankara, Cavusoglu urged the international community not to consider the two sides on an "equal footing" due to Armenia's "occupation" of the territory.

Fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh continued into a third day on Tuesday with Baku and Yerevan blaming each other for the resumption of attacks.

The region lies within Azerbaijan but has been under the control of ethnic Armenian forces backed by the Yerevan government since 1994 at the end of a separatist war.
