New Delhi: "Safety is our primary design goal", said Tesla CEO Elon Musk after a viral video showed a horrifying incident involving his company's Model Y car. The video shared on X, showed the electric SUV rolling over multiple times before coming to a stop. Fortunately, all passengers survived without serious injuries.
Musk's reaction followed a recent crash in Orange County, California, where a speeding Tesla reportedly flipped into oncoming traffic, according to KTLA News. The crash, involving six vehicles, resulted in three people, including the Tesla driver, being injured. Witnesses estimated the Tesla's speed at over 100 miles per hour. Two vehicles overturned, trapping occupants inside, who were then extricated by first responders and taken to the hospital.
Police are investigating the crash, considering the possibility that alcohol or drugs may have been a factor.
“That's why I bought my wife a Tesla. A little more than some sedans but it's saved the difference in gas savings and the car is the safest I could get!” a user reacted to the video.
Another said, "The main reason I have Cybertruck and purchased six other Teslas. Safety! FSD is icing on the cake, preventing crashes."
