A court in Moscow on Friday upheld the arrest of the provincial governor of the Khabarovsk region Sergei Furgal who is charged of involvement in the murders of several businessmen in 2004-2005.
Furgal's arrest caused outrage among local residents who have protested against it for more than two months already.
However, no supporters of the governor showed up to the courthouse on Friday.
The former governor was arrested on 9 July on suspicion of involvement in murders and taken to jail in Moscow.
