New Delhi: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ’s approach to the ongoing war with Russia, calling it "cruel and inhumane."
In a post on X, Musk said, “What I said over 2 years ago was that Ukraine should seek peace or suffer severe loss of life for no gains. The latter was Zelensky’s choice. Now, he wants to do that again. This is cruel and inhumane.”
His remarks come as tensions between Zelenskyy and former U.S. President Donald Trump escalated following a heated exchange at the White House.

Musk has previously commented on the shifting public perception of Zelenskyy in the U.S.
After a CNN report highlighted a decline in American support for the Ukrainian leader, Musk posted, “Zelenskyy damaged himself severely in the eyes of the public. Just a fact.” The report stated that in 2022, 72% of Americans believed Zelenskyy would “do the right thing,” but that number dropped to 48% by 2024. Additionally, the percentage of Americans who think the U.S. is helping Ukraine “too much” rose from 7% in 2022 to 41% in 2025.

Musk’s remarks have drawn mixed reactions. Ukraine supporters in the U.S. staged a protest outside a Tesla showroom in New York, chanting “Zelenskyy is our hero” and holding posters in support of the Ukrainian leader.
Meanwhile, European leaders and many Ukrainians have backed Zelenskyy, praising him for standing firm in his confrontation with Trump.
