A recent public hearing in Mexico has become the centre of debate on social media. On Wednesday, journalist and ufologist Jaime Maussan unboxed at Congress what he claimed were two mummified corpses of aliens that dated back to a thousand years.
While he did take an oath, some internet users remain unconvinced. The news has thrilled conspiracy theorists and UFO enthusiasts, but has also raised a bunch of questions from curious netizens. Taking to X, one user wrote, "Mexico just showed off physical corpses of aliens they have in possession. not a photo of them. not a video in a lab. REAL DEAD ALIEN BODIES. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR US."
"This is wild! Mexican govt shown the live dead bodies of aliens species," another user added. A third user said, "Just wow." On the other hand, some speculated that extraterrestrial beings "can't be that small" and quipped that instead, the specimens appeared to look like "mutated cats."

Those alien corpses being shown in court look too close to the fictional ones we see in cartoons for me to actually take it seriously 😭

A quick look at the extraterrestrial discovery
According to The Independent, the corpses were retrieved from Peru's Cusco. They were later studied by the Autonomous National University of Mexico (UNAM) where scientists found DNA proof through radiocarbon dating. They were then placed inside a box and shown to Mexican politicians at Wednesday's hearing.

The urologist claimed that the specimens do not belong to "our terrestrial evolution." "These aren't beings that were found after a UFO wreckage. They were found in diatom (algae) mines, and were later fossilised," he explained to attendees of the hearing that included Ryan Graves, Americans for Safe Aerospace Executive Director, who was part of a similar US Congress hearing earlier this year.
