Harris and Trump Neck-and-Neck in Key Battleground States
Both candidates are virtually tied in states that could determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential race.
With just weeks remaining until Election Day, new polls show Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump in a close race across several critical battleground states. According to a New York Times/Siena College poll released on Saturday, both candidates are virtually tied in states that could determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential race.
In Michigan, Harris holds a slim lead with 48 percent of likely voters backing her, while Trump follows closely at 47 percent. In Wisconsin, Harris is slightly ahead, polling at 49 percent compared to Trump’s 47 percent. However, the race in Ohio shows Trump with a narrow edge, leading Harris 50 percent to 44 percent.
Two separate Fox News polls released on Friday revealed similar results in other key states. In Pennsylvania, the candidates are deadlocked, each receiving 49 percent of the likely vote. In North Carolina, Trump holds a slight lead, polling at 50 percent, while Harris stands at 49 percent.
Here is what you need to know
The close polling numbers come after a summer of dramatic political developments, including two assassination attempts on Trump’s life and a high-stakes debate earlier this month.
The latest polling also follows a New York Times/Siena poll from earlier this week showing Trump gaining ground in Sun Belt states like Georgia, Arizona, and North Carolina, where Harris had held leads just a month ago. As the race continues to tighten, both campaigns are focusing on these battlegrounds, where even small shifts in support could be decisive.
With the election fast approaching, both Harris and Trump are ramping up efforts to sway undecided voters in the critical states that will likely decide the next president of the United States.
