Today marks a year after Hamas' surprise attack on Israel and Tel Aviv's campaign in Gaza has claimed the lives of thousands and displaced millions.

Tel Aviv: Today marks a year after Hamas' surprise attack on Israel and Tel Aviv's campaign in Gaza has claimed the lives of thousands and displaced millions. Since these attacks, international efforts and other agreements have failed to yield any lasting results. Tensions remain to be escalated in ther Middle East with a potentially broader and harsher conflict evolving between Israel and Hezbollah.

To mark the first anniversary of the Israel-Hamas war, demonstrations were held across the major cities in the world urging to end the bloodshed in Gaza and other Middle East regions. March was held in Paris, Rome, Manila, London, and other places.

On the eve of October 7, Israel intensified its bombardment on Gaza after launching a new round of airstrikes on Beruit suburbs late Sunday. The IDF in a post on X said, "Aircraft of the Air Force attacked a short time ago, in a targeted manner and under the intelligence guidance of the Israeli Defense Forces and the Southern Command, terrorists from the terrorist organization Hamas who were operating in command and control complexes set up in the "Shahda Al-Aqsa" hospital in the Deir al-Balah area."  This attack came as a retaliation as the Israeli military said that rockets were fired from northern Gaza and crossed into southern Israel on Sunday.

Here’s a Timeline of the Key Developments Over the Past Year:

7 October 2023: Hamas launched a massive attack on Israel killing 1,200 people and injuring thousands of civilians. The terrorist group also took 251 hostages back to Gaza, some of whom were found dead later. Following this deadly attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to destroy Hamas.

13 October 2023: Israel begins its bombing campaign in Gaza, tightens its siege and instructs civilians in Gaza to move to the south.

27 October 2023: Tel Aviv begins its offensive attack in Gaza, resulting in mass displacement.

15 November 2023: Israeli Military troops raid Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza.

24 November 2023: A temporary truce about was achieved between Israel and Hamas, which led to an exchange of Hostages. under this deal, Hamas released 80 Israeli hostages in exchange for 240 Palestinians held by Israel.

March 2024: Countries began addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

15 March 2024: Cyprus sends first humanitarian aid to Gaza as part of international efforts. 

1 April 2024: Seven workers from US Charity World Kitches were killed in an Israeli strike, who called it a "tragic mistake."

13 April 2024: Iran launched drones and missiles at Israelis in retaliation to the strike on its consulate in Damascus.

13 July 2024: Hamas military head Mohammed Deif was killed in a strike in Southern Gaza.

20 July 2024: Tensions escalate between Israel and Yemen's Houthis rebels after the latter launched a drone attack on Tel Aviv.

30 July 2024: At least 12 children were killed in a rocket attack in the Golan Heights, however, Hamas denied the responsibility. 

31 July 2024: Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Iran, with Israel allegedly responsible.

16 August 2024: The US presents a truce deal to Israel and Hamas. The terrorist groups however immediately rejected the proposal.

22 August 2024: Egypt and Qatar resume truce negotiations to seek a resolution in the conflict.

28 August 2024: UN calls for immediate halt after Israel launched an operation in the West Bank against Hamas.

September 2024: Several dozens were killed in explosions in Lebanon after Israel expanded its war with its aim to secure the northern border.

Thousands of Hezbollah members' pagers and walkie-talkies exploded across Lebanon, claiming the lives of 239 people and injuring almost 3,000.

27 September 2024: Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli strike in Beruit.

1 October 2024: Iran retaliates after launching missiles on Israel after the deaths of Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas’s Ismail Haniyeh.
