There is unholy nexus between judiciary and military to influence and subvert the results of upcoming general elections in Pakistan on July 25, 2018.

Targeting, harassing, intimidating Nawaz Sharif and his party is part of this whole exercise. The selection concluded much before, in favor of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with Imran Khan as PM. Now that the selection is done, the show and charade of election must go on.

Pakistan’s Accountability Court on Friday announced the verdict in the Avenfield Properties corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) dealing a severe blow to ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and virtually seals his political career.

Was the verdict surprising?

Not at all.

Nawaz Sharif has been handed 10 years in jail for owning assets beyond known income and for not cooperating with NAB. His daughter Maryam, who was tipped to take over reigns of the party, has been given 7 years after she was found ‘instrumental in concealment of the properties of her father’.

According to the verdict, she ‘aided, assisted, abetted, attempted and acted in conspiracy with her father’.

Nawaz Sharif's son-in-law, Captain Safdar has been given one year jail term, for not cooperating with NAB, and aiding and abetting Nawaz and Maryam. Also, Court has imposed a fine of £8 million on Nawaz and £2 million on Maryam. The money will go into the state treasury. The court also ordered that the properties, in London's exclusive Mayfair, be confiscated by the federal government.

Nawaz’s sons, Hasan and Hussain Nawaz, are also accused in the case. ‘They are absconding therefore, they are declared as proclaimed offenders. Non bailable perpetual warrants of arrest shall be issued against them’ announced the court.

What now for Nawaz and family?

Nawaz disqualified earlier; Maryam and Captain Safdar can no longer contest the upcoming general elections. They are disqualified to contest election or to hold public office for a period of 10 years to be reckoned from the date he or she are released after serving the sentence. Sons are absconding so future stands politically doomed for them.
Of course they can appeal. But what can they do before July 25, 2018, the day when ballots will be cast?

How is this high-voltage drama being orchestrated?

The unholy nexus between judiciary and military to influence and subvert the election was firmed long ago. The aim is to bring the results of elections in favor of PTI so that Imran Khan can be the PM. In this well orchestrated drama, the judiciary is to target politicians aligned with PML (N) through the legal system while the political calls are to come from military and ISI. ISI is busy intimidating and harassing the politicians aligned with PML (N). Pakistan Army has all the strings of drama that is being played out.

How is Pak’s political landscape emerging?

PML (N) is in direct contest with PTI. Both are close to have 30% of Pakistan’s national votes. Pakistan’s Peoples party (PPP) may be strong in Sindh areas but has no sinew to be a storm in the cup. At best they may have 10-12% share.

And then are others which are radicalized mullahs and their followers. Milli Muslim League (MML), political face of globally recognised terrorist Hafiz Saeed-led JuD, after repeatedly failing to get registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), has announced to contest the upcoming general election from the platform of Allahu Akbar Tehreek (AAT) and to field 200 candidates. AAT is a political party registered with the ECP, whose leader is Mian Ahsan Bari. They have symbol of 'chair' for the 2018 election and had contested the 2013 election with the symbol of cow! Obviously Hafiz Saeed-led JuD will call the shots.

Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) is fielding hundreds of candidates countrywide, despite formed just two years ago. TLP is an Islamist political party in Pakistan with Islamic ideology. They demand that Sharia law be established as law of Pakistan through a gradual legal and political process.

But one wonders as to from such money is coming from to finance radicalized and novices in politics? Some say that mullahs, military and judiciary have joined hands under the patronage of the Chinese! So watch out and be prepared for tough times in the short term.

In this general election of July 25, 2018, what is selection and who is selected?

Selection being the agenda, it is done. It is done and Imran Khan is selected.

Imran Khan who has a habit of proposing marriage in mysterious circumstances, ending his marriages at even more unfortunate junctures and in curious circumstances, has his romantic and conjugal life in complete mess is the obvious selection for Pakistan PM’s Chair.

But Why Imran Khan?

He is famous for his lack of political acumen. He lacks political shrewdness and lacks experience as an administrator. He is obviously devoid of vision. Nobody knows his views on the economy and probably he doesn’t have any. He may be honest but that’s not a qualification to be politician or PM of Pakistan.

With such background, Deep State couldn’t have found a better and more malleable candidate hence the selection.

With naive politician selected as Pakistan’s PM, subverted political system and judiciary muzzling the political voices; Pakistan could have asked for economy that works for people. Sadly it is in firm Chinese hands.

As Hamlet said to Ophelia, “God has given you one face, and you make yourself another."

The battle between these two halves of identity and duality is unwinnable. With duality in every sphere of Pak’s polity- duplicity is getting back on Pakistan through charades and Chinese colonization, well orchestrated by the Deep State- the Pak Army and ISI.

One wonders what the drama is all about, who is the winner and who is the real victim?
