As New Delhi moves more and more troops in Jammu and Kashmir, there are clear signs that its neighbour Pakistan is quivering about the forces being deployed in the state. Apart from deploying 10,000 troops in the valley alst week, an additional 28,000 troops are being sent, as informed by sources. While few political parties in the state of Jammu and Kashmir continues to fear monger on the status of Article 35 A after troops deployment in the valley, Centre has not said anything on scrapping of Article 35A, which defines permanent residents of the state and bars outsiders from purchasing and owning immovable property as the matter is sub-judice. As per sources, Centre has deployed the forces in order to strengthen counter-insurgency operations and law and order duties. However, Pakistan's insecurity is visible in the following instances:

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi raises question on deployment of troops

On Wednesday, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi after briefing the parliamentary committee on Kashmir affairs in Islamabad raised questions over the step taken by India. He told reporters that sending troops to India is a violation of human rights.  “India’s war mood is worrisome. They (India) have sent 10,000 more soldiers to Jammu and Kashmir. This is violation of human rights. India is not ready for talks or mediation. This is a weird situation. We are planning to raise the Kashmir issue before the parliamentary committee for foreign affairs in the world,” he said.

Moreover, blaming India for ceasefire violation, Quereshi had said that it shows India's hostile attitude.“The ceasefire violations by India show its hostile attitude. It is a threat to regional peace.”

Pakistan interferes in Article 35 A matter

Pakistan has echoed the tunes of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and NC chief Farooq Abdullah on the issue of Article 35 A. Qureshi commenting on India's internal matter has said on Wednesday that local leaders like Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah are showing resentment and that Pakistan would not allow 'change of constitutional status.'

"Additional 10,000 troops have been sent to Kashmir. What is the need for that amid heavy security forces in the Valley. All parties conference talks are underway. Parties which were once coalition forces, are not only distancing themselves from the policies of the Centre and even questioned the Centre. Local parties are showing resentment, they want to meet PM. Mehbooba Mufti called for an all-parties conference minus BJP," the Pakistan Foreign Minister said during the press briefing.

Pakistan has resorted to ceasefire violations

Pakistan has been provoking the Indian side recently by violating ceasefire along many sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) targeting civilians in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan army has been continuously violating ceasefire along the LoC at areas which are known infiltration routes, in a likely attempt to provide a way in to the terrorists to enter the Indian side.

As per sources, the depleting number of terrorists in the Kashmir Valley because of the multiple and effective cordon and search operations (CASO) launched by the Indian Army has affected the neighbouring country, which is why Pakistan has resorted to violation of ceasefire on the Indian side. On July 29, Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt by Pakistan along the LoC in Machhil sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district. A day after that on July 30, another infiltration attempt was foiled in Baktur area of Gurez on LoC in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. A gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in the area as per reports.

Here's a list of sectors in Jammu and Kashmir where Pakistan carried out ceasefire violations in the past few days:

  • Shahpur Kerni in Poonch
  • Saujiyan in Poonch
  • Mankote in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch
  • Keri Battal in Sunderbani
  • Tangdhar in Kupwara
  • Machhil in Kupwara
  • Uri in Baramulla
  • Gurez in Bandipora
  • Nowshera in Rajouri
