Netizens unapologetically trolled the Pakistan former High Commissioner Abdul Basit for sharing the photograph of an adult film star on social media, citing it to be from Kashmir. The former Pakistan High Commissioner to India shared the photo of two adult film stars in his bid to propel Pakistan's propaganda against the PM Modi government.

Abdul Basit's 'violence in Kashmir' claim

A Twitter user captured the screenshot of Abdul Basit sharing a tweet on Kashmir claiming that a man in the region was injured by a pellet gun. The tweet had the image of a young woman crying and holding a man lying still on a hospital bed, both of whom are actually adult film stars. But the tweet said that the image showed  'Yousuf from Anantnag' and that he had lost his vision after being hit in a pellet gun firing. 

Basit appears to have deleted the retweet containing the false information. But netizens spotted it and took a screenshot of his gaffe. This is not the first time that ministers and officials from higher echelons of Pakistan government goofed up while trying to spread false narrative of violence prevailing against Kashmiris in the region. Several ministers from Imran Khan's government, most routinely Pakistan's Fawad Chaudhry, have left Pakistan red-faced with their conduct in public. More so, Pakistan's President Arif Alvi has also been at the receiving end of a notice from Twitter for spreading fake news on India.

Abrogation of Article 370

On August 5, India abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution that provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The Parliament further bifurcated the state into two Union Territories -- Jammu Kashmir, and Ladakh. Reacting to India's decision, Pakistan expelled the Indian High Commissioner soon after deciding to downgrade the diplomatic ties with New Delhi. India has categorically told the international community that its move to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution is its internal matter and has also advised Pakistan to accept the reality. Ever since the abrogation, Centre also placed mainstream politicians - NC leader Omar Abdullah, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, JKPC president Sajad Lone and others into detention, blocked communication, and deployed heavy military in the valley as a security measure.
