Hack:

  • When questioned of Jaish-e-Mohammed's involvement, Pak Minister Mahmood Qureshi interrupted the reporter saying, 'We are not sure of that.'
  • This is not the first time that Imran Khan's Cabinet Minister put a foot in his mouth for Pakistan, as on Friday he admitted to being in touch with Masood Azhar.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Mahmood Qureshi during his interview with an international media organisation found himself in an unsettled spot when he made a gaffe and slipped in the conversation as to how the Pakistan government is in contact with a UN-designated terror organisation, Jaish-e-Mohammed.

While speaking of the escalation between India-Pakistan relations following the Pulwama attack that martyred 44 CRPF Jawans, when questioned of Jaish-e-Mohammed's involvement, Qureshi interrupted the reporter saying, "We are not sure of that."

To which, the reporter further questioned: You're not sure that JeM is Pak-based or that they have not claimed responsibility for it?

The Pakistani Foreign Minister was quick to back the terror organisation, while he did not refuse its base in Pakistan, he went ahead to defend Jaish-e-Mohammed saying, "they have not claimed responsibility"

Qureshi said: No, no..they have not claimed responsibility. There is confusion on that. The confusion is, the leadership had contacted them, they said no.

At that moment, Qureshi could not eat his words, as he looked evidently perturbed for making a massive revealation to the international news organisation.

Equally taken aback by his statement, the reported curiously questioned him back, 'who contacted with Jaish-e-Mohammed to Pakistan?' which was followed by sheepish mumbles and awkward fumbles.

Here is the transcript from the interview that laid bare Pakistan's nasty ties with terror organisations:

Reporter: You're not sure that JeM is Pak-based or that they have not claimed responsibility for it?

Qureshi: No, no..they have not claimed responsibility. There is confusion on that. The confusion is, the leadership had contacted them, they said no.

Reporter: The leadership has been contacted by whom?

Qureshi: By..you know..people over here, they deny, that's the confusion.

Reporter: Who's contacted with Jaish-e-Mohammed to Pakistan?

Qureshi: The people, the people who are known to them. They claim no responsibility.

Reporter: But they issued a press release on their official channel, we all saw it.

Qureshi: What I'm saying is, there is confusion, there are conflicted opinions.

This is not the first time that Imran Khan's Cabinet Minister put a foot in his mouth for Pakistan, as on Friday he admitted to being in touch with Masood Azhar.

He noted that he is "unwell", but said the government can act against him only if India presents "solid" and "inalienable" evidence that can stand in a court of law.

Following which, the terrorist who has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on the Indian soil and had links with Osama bin Laden was moved to an Army hospital in Rawalpindi to undergo treatment for his renal failure.
