Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Invited to Spend Christmas with Princess Diana's Family

London: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been invited to spend Christmas at Althorp House, the childhood home of Harry's late mother, Princess Diana. The invitation was extended by Harry's uncle, Charles Spencer. The couple has not been in the UK for Christmas since 2018.

“Charles [Spencer] has invited Harry, Meghan, and the children to Althorp this Christmas . It's far too early to say whether they will take him up on it, but the offer is there if they want it,” said a leading English daily's source.

If the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with their children—Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet—choose to travel from California to England, it would be Meghan's first visit since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022. They have not yet received an invitation from the royal family for Christmas at Sandringham, and it is unlikely they would attend even if invited.

Since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, Harry has stayed close to his maternal family, the Spencers. He attended his uncle Lord Robert Fellowes' funeral last month. Harry and his brother, Prince William, were both there, but sat separately.

Harry has also stayed at Althorp House, which is important to him because it is where Princess Diana is buried. Earlier this year, he met with Diana's brother Charles Spencer and sister Lady Jane Fellowes during the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games.

Former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond noted that Harry keeps in touch with his aunts and uncle, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Lady Jane Fellowes, and Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer. The Spencer family has supported Harry, who has faced criticism since leaving royal duties.
