Violence between anti-government demonstrators and security forces in central Baghdad continued on Tuesday, despite the rain and fears over the spread of coronavirus in the country.

Protesters near Baghdad's Khilani Square were confronted by riot police with tear gas.

Some protesters suffered from tear gas inhallation and burns, while others were treated for injuries at backline medical tents.

Over 500 people have been killed under fire from security forces since mass anti-government protests erupted in the capital and Iraq's south on Oct. 1.

Thousands of Iraqis, mostly young people, took to the streets to decry government corruption, poor services and unemployment.
