Around 100 involved in shootout outside Kyiv

About 100 people were involved in a shootout on Friday in the town of Brovary just outside of Kyiv.

The incident took place in a parking lot at around 0715 local time (0415GMT) and eyewitnesses reported dozens of shots fired at the site in what is alleged to be a showdown between rival groups competing for control of bus routes to Kyiv.

Police arrived shortly after the incident broke out, detaining 10 armed men.

At least three persons involved in the shootout were wounded, wrote deputy interior minister Anton Gerashchenko.

He added that the clash was a result of the non-transparent distribution of licenses by Kyiv region officials for regional bus operators.
