AstraZeneca jabs offered by Japan land in Taiwan

A third batch of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines donated by Japan arrived in Taiwan Thursday.

A third batch of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines donated by Japan arrived in Taiwan Thursday.

The 970,000 doses that arrived in Taoyuan brought the total number of shots donated by Japan to 3.34 million.

Taiwan's health minister Chen Shih-Chung welcomed the deliveries and expressed his thanks to Japan at the airport.

Deputy commander of Taiwan's Central Epidemic Command Center Chen Tsung-yen said two more flights were coming from Thailand and Luxembourg with more donated vaccines.

As of Wednesday, 18.06% of Taiwan's population had received at least one COVID-19 jab.
