Belgium detailed its plans to further reemerge from lockdown by opening sites ranging from schools to museums to barber shops from Monday (May 18).

Prime Minister Sophie Wilmes announced the move Wednesday, as the country prepares to enter the second phase of easing its restrictive measures.

While people will finally be able to tame their unruly hair, customers at barber shops and beauty salons will need to book appointments in advance and a protective mask will be mandatory.

With the latest epidemic figures showing a slowdown in the spread of the virus, schools across the country will gradually reopen from Monday, and small outdoor markets will be allowed to operate under strict safety conditions.

Wilmes said regular outdoor training at sporting facilities can restart under a coach's supervision as long as attendees don't exceed 20 people, while groups of 30 people will now be able to gather at funerals and weddings.

A date has yet to be set for the reopening of hotels, bars and restaurants, which will remain closed until at least June 8.

Wilmes added that all sporting and cultural events remain suspended until June 30.
