Chinese President Xi Jinping met visiting World Health Organisation (WHO) director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in Beijing on Tuesday.

Chinese President Xi Jinping met visiting World Health Organisation (WHO) director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in Beijing on Tuesday. Xi told Tedros that control of the outbreak of the new coronavirus was China's most important task and that the country had full confidence and the capability to win the battle, state broadcaster CCTV reported.

Xi also said that the Chinese government had released information about the epidemic in a timely, open, transparent and responsible manner, and would enhance cooperation with the international community, according to CCTV. Tedros told Xi that WHO firmly supported China's measures against the epidemic and stood ready to enhance cooperation with China and provide all necessary assistance, CCTV said.
