Colombia's capital remained eerily deserted as the country embarked on its fourth week under lockdown to try and slow the spread of the new coronavirus.

The South American country is currently due to remain under lockdown until 11 May.

However, the government led by President Ivan Duque announced relaxed measures for the textile and construction industries as a way to boost the economy, effective as of Monday, 27 April.

As of Friday, Colombian authorities have reported 4,500 COVID-19 cases and 215 deaths.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.

For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
