Congress President Rahul Gandhi condemns the serial bombings of Colombo, offers heartfelt condolences to the victims

With the number of serial bombings in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday rising from 6 to 8 in a matter of one hour, Congress President Rahul Gandhi along with various leaders like the President of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam M K Stalin, and Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav have extended their heartfelt condolences to the victims and survivors of the blasts.

The blasts occurred at the Sri Lankan capital in the suburb of Dematagoda, targeting three churches and three five star hotels.

Taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi said that he strongly condemns the ‘diabolical act of terrorism’.

The Congress President’s tweet read :

President of DMK also expressed his remarks in Tamil on the blasts. He said that ‘Humanitarian forces must defeat the challenge to humanity’.

The UP Chief Minister gave his take on the tragic incident saying that ‘Terrorists have no religion, no God, no country, and to give them the oxygen of publicity is to let them win’.

With nearly 140 killed and more than 400 injured, Sri Lanka government has declared a curfew with immediate effect and it’s unclear on when it will be lifted. Social media of the country had also been banned temporarily.
