Navy in Crimea marked Victory Day, the 75th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II, with no spectators.

Ships, boats and submarine of the Russian naval forces lined up in the bay of Sevastopol while military aircrafts fired saluting.

Victory Day is the most important secular holiday in the post-Soviet era and this year's observance had been expected to be especially large because of the significant anniversary, but most events were postponed as part of measures to stifle the spread of the coronavirus.

The Soviet Union lost an estimated 26 million people including 8.5 million soldiers in the war.

The local authorities on the peninsula that has been annexed by Russia in 2014 imposed the lockdown in late March amid the coronavirus outbreak.

As of Saturday, Crimea has registered 296 COVID-19 cases and 4 deaths.
