Protests against the coup in Myanmar that put the military in power continued on Thursday.

In Launglone Township, in the south of the country, villagers began before dawn with songs and candles, before marching down lanes and rural roads.

Protest marches took place in a number of villages in the area. There were no reports of confrontations with police.

On Wednesday, security forces stormed a town in northwestern Myanmar where some residents had used homemade hunting rifles to resist the military's February seizure of power, killing at least 11 civilians and injuring many others, local media reported.
