In a video that went viral on social media, a dog was seen performing CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation while his owner laid on the ground. The adorable video was shared multiple times on social media and is winning several hearts.

Dog performs Cardiopulmonary resuscitation

In the video which was posted on the Instagram account of Hands-Only CPR where a dog was seen performing CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which is an emergency procedure performed when the heart of a person stops beating. In a video, a black and white dog is seen jumping up and down his owner who is laying on the ground. The dog is shown mimicking the heart compressions and constantly pressing her chest with his paws. The dogs mimic the procedure with absolute precision. The effort shown by the dog in the video is winning hearts on the internet.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation

CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation is an emergency procedure usually performed when a person gets a sudden cardiac arrest and his heart stops beating. The procedure involves continuous thumping the chest and pressurizing it to make the heartbeat again. If the technique is rightly followed it can bring back the person from the state of unconsciousness and increase the probability of survival. The producer is part of the dog’s training given by the police. The dogs are expected to perform tasks like sniff drugs and find the criminals to ascertain whether they can perform CPR as well.

Dogs for a long life

On the other hand, new research has found evidence which proves that there is an association between having a dog and longer life, particularly for those who have suffered from heart attacks and strokes. The studies were published on October 8, in the journal called Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes. Previous studies have proved that having a pet Dog can help individuals overcome social isolation, improve physical activity, and help in managing blood pressure. Dr. Glenn N. Levine, who has led the committee on pet ownership for the American Heart Association said that the current findings can prove that owning or adopting a dog can reduce mortality. There are two studies that have been published in Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes.
