Frankfurt Airport has unveiled new health safety measures for passengers if the green light is given for a big increase in the number of flights.

Travellers and employees must always wear a face mask as social distancing may not be possible at all times.

Where passengers and employees need to communicate directly with each other, such as the check-in counter, panes of plexiglass are used for mutual protection.

Numerous dispensers with hand disinfectant are available across what, before the pandemic, used to be one of Europe's busiest airport.

Surfaces that are touched a lot are cleaned and disinfected more often by the airport's staff.

Lufthansa Germany's biggest Airline has announced that it will expand its operations in June.

Germany has recorded more than 170,000 cases and at least 7,484 deaths since the start of the outbreak.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.

For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and could lead to death.
