Australia's AFL competition returns on Thursday night and already teams are having to adjust to a new normal. Teams from Australia's west coast have had to relocate to the eastern seaboard - more than 4,000 kilometres away from home, while some teams will have the added advantage of home support as COVID-19 restrictions ease further.
The Fremantle Dockers have relocated from Perth on Australia's west coast to train at the Gold Coast Suns facility in Queensland under strict AFL COVID-19 protocols. ' While Fremantle players adjust to life out of a suitcase in a new city, the Suns are expecting to welcome fans into their stadium in the coming weeks - with Government restrictions set to ease.
Fremantle have different concerns though, with players finding a new routine in a new city just days out from the season resuming. The competition has been on hold for nearly three months after coronavirus put a stop to the season following round one. Fremantle take on Brisbane Lions on Saturday while the Gold Coast Suns face off against West Coast Eagles later in the day.
