Queues formed outside lower court buildings and the state property registry in Athens on Tuesday as the country began easing lockdown measures.

In an address to the nation later on Tuesday, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is set to announce detailed plans setting out how the country will emerge from its lockdown after pandemic-related restrictions expire on May 4.

Strict measures have helped keep the spread of the coronavirus relatively contained in Greece.

But police have reported an increase in violations in recent days as public anxiety over the pandemic eases and the weather improves.

Greece has reported over 2,500 cases and 136 deaths from the virus, according to Johns Hopkins University.
