A Chinese eatery, "Hey! We go" has come up with a creative idea for a business in the center of the southwestern city of Chengdu. It is proving perfect fodder for the social media-savvy generation. The crowd of the city can gather together and relish their favorite dishes adoringly around the fluffy white ducks and can click pictures with them. The restaurant is the latest addition to the country's growing list of popular animal cafes. The restaurant attracts people from all over the city who come here to spend some time with these ducks while relishing their dinner.
The four ducks at the eatery are a domesticated breed imported from Europe with each duck that has a price of 10,000 yuan. ($1,400). But the main attraction of the cafe is not for sale and they are there to waddle from table to table to elate the customers who come down to the restaurant. The consumers can spend up to 90 minutes with the ducks for 78 yuan. They really look attractive when they are held up in front of cameras and smartphones for 'duck-selfies'.
A university student who came to visit the eatery after reading about it online said the ducks are very friendly and obedient. They are not like the other swimming ducks, she said. The cafe was cofounded by a 26-year-old Luo Yaochi with three others. Yaochi said the idea struck up his mind when he recently raised his own pet duck. The visitors in the cafe can also spend time with the two miniature teacup pigs who are residents of the cafe. They fit cleanly in a pink miniature shopping trolley.
