Hong Kong and Singapore's "Air Travel Bubble" may not go ahead on its second attempted launch.

Hong Kong's Commerce Secretary on Friday told reporters that the "bubble arrangement might not be able to be resumed under the agreed mechanism", referring to conversations with his Singaporean counterpart.

Hong Kong and Singapore first planned a quarantine-free travel arrangement last year, intending for it to take off in late November.

Instead it was called off just a day before it was due to start, because Hong Kong was facing a new wave of COVID-19 cases.

This time, it could be a slew of new infections in Singapore that affect the arrangement.

The two business hubs had planned to start the quarantine-free travel bubble, subject to many controls, on 26 May.
