Former law professor and pro-democracy activist Benny Tai was released on bail late Thursday, a day after being arrested alongside over 50 others under Hong Kong's national security law.

The activists are accused of taking part in an unofficial primary election last year that authorities say was part of a plan to paralyze the government and subvert state power.
