As fighting continues between Syrian and Turkish-backed forces in northwest Syria, the humanitarian situation continues to worsen.

The UN has put the number of civilians displaced since December 1 at more than 900-thousand - most of them are women and children.

In Idlib city, families have taken to living in the backs of their trucks, or on the pavement. Some sleep in the mosque at night but eat and drink in their trucks and have fitted them with small burners to cook food.

Backed by heavy Russian airstrikes, government forces have for weeks been conducting a crushing military campaign to recapture the Aleppo countryside and parts of neighbouring Idlib province in northwestern Syria

These are the last rebel-held areas in the country.
