Hundreds of members of Taiwan's Myanmar community and other pro-democracy protesters marched through Taipei City's streets on Sunday to mark Global Myanmar Spring Revolution Day.

Similar protests took place across Myanmar and other countries on the same day, as part of an international movement calling for a free and democratic Myanmar following the February 1 military coup.

The movement involved 41 cities in 18 countries, with Taipei, Tokyo and Seoul among the first cities to organise this global event.

Demonstrators chanted slogans in Burmese during the march in the Taiwanese capital.

Taiwan is home to around 40,000 migrants and immigrants from Myanmar.
