Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi said that targeting the US Embassy was "painful, harmful and incorrect".

Two rockets landed close to the embassy in Baghdad's fortified Green Zone on Tuesday, in the latest of several similar attacks. There were no casualties.Sirens could be heard across the zone immediately after the rockets attack.

As in the other incidents, the perpetrators were not immediately known, but the strike came during a sensitive time as the US and Iran step back from taking further escalating action on Iraqi soil.Two rockets also fell in the Green Zone on Januuary 8.
