Japan PM comments on phone conversation with Biden

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on Monday congratulated US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris again and said he looks forward to working with them to deepen the Japan-US alliance.

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on Monday congratulated US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris again and said he looks forward to working with them to deepen the Japan-US alliance. "Once again, I offer my heartfelt congratulations to Mr Biden and Ms Harris," Suga said at a news conference in Tokyo.

"In order to further strengthen the Japan-US alliance, and to achieve the peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region, I wish to work together with the United States," he continued.

Suga also said he hoped to meet with Biden in Washington, though nothing concrete had been decided yet. The Japanese prime minister had congratulated Biden and Harris in a tweet on Sunday.
